Techology in 2010

Who has read Fahrenheit 451? Probably a few. And why this book? Maybe bacause Ray Bradbury has opened my eyes a little more. And not only Ray, what about George Orwell? Both have been able to show us the decay of the society.

I realize that our costums are changing, we have stopped doing simple activities like reading, talking with friends, walking... I know we have computers which can be more interesting and which are constantly developing. More often there’s more virtuality and less interaction. Maybe we’ll be the best in techology and the most illiterates. Will my generation be able to balance these endpoints? We should start by respecting people around us, although is a difficult task because what I’ve seen, we are immune to the others pain and suffering. And the reason is because the violence is part of our growth. We digest the cruel images on the tv with the delicious roast chicken which our parents have bought before arriving at home, on the way from work, because they haven’t got enough time to cook and to dinner with the family. But: we are the generation with more technology toys has anybody dreamt, thanks to our parents efforts, the sames who thinks that love could be bought. While we enjoy the game, we are widening the gap that separates us. The Million Question is: what happened or what has distanced us? Maybe it’s ironic, but in my opinion one cause could be freedom’s interpretation: we though we were free to chose, think, say and act, but simultaneously we have stopped reasoning, that has led us to the crisis, not only a material crisis, also a identity crisis. We move in herds, fashion blinds us, and if someone can’t reach the same level that the most say, he’ll be known as an outcast.

And one example of this is the every day in a high school: differences that caracterizes us are: how we dress, our mobile model, how many “play-stations” we have, our laptop, even the way we express our ideas. It’s really hard and difficult to impose yourself on the mass, because it’s an unrewarding exercise with few references. And unfortunately the comunication between parents and children is often weak and poor. On one hand, there’re teens who feel alone, and at the same house, frustrated parents who don’t know how to open a line on comunication with them. On the other hand we have teachers, the pillars of education, who will be always criticized depending on their degree of involvement.
